FACT: Lagos
became a prominent city from this time of the original Black Moors who were
sometimes called Phoenicians or Canaanites or Ethiopians or Africans.
It
was a major maritime center, renowned for its shipbuilding industry and
maritime trade networks. Moorish ships were sent from Lagos to trade networks as
far away as the Americas and the Caribbean Islands. Lagos quickly grew in
wealth and importance. It soon became the light of the province of the Algarve
and was known as the Queen of the Algarve.
